Get Lost in Alice's Wonderland Exhibit at Atlanta Botanical Garden
“We’re all mad here.”
You might recognize that line from Disney’s Alice in Wonderland which ironically sums up how we’ve all been feeling this year. Who would’ve thought we’d have to wear a mask to a garden in 2020? It’s crazy to think about, but we’re here nonetheless! Anyway, if you haven’t heard about Atlanta Botanical Garden’s Alice’s Wonderland Exhibit, where have you been?!
The Botanical Garden is known for its beautiful, year-round exhibits that always garner the attention of Atlantans and people from all over. There’s 30 acres of stunning gardens filled with landscapes and greenery that are suited for just about anyone who enjoys being outside.
Upon arrival, I received a map of the garden and learned that it would take around an hour to walk around the entire property (which it did). The best thing about the Botanical Garden is that you can go as slow or as fast as you want. There’s no guide that you have to keep up with, so you can stop and enjoy any particular gardens that you’re really into. My two favorite were the infamous Earth Goddess (pictured below) and the Wonderland chess board. The photo doesn’t do Earth Goddess any justice because she is HUGE in person!
Between the hot Atlanta weather and generous amount of walking you’ll do, be prepared to work up an appetite. Luckily if you get hungry while you’re venturing through the gardens, there’s a snack bar and restaurant that you can go to at any time.
So if you’re looking for something fun and *as safe as something can be during a pandemic* I highly suggest visiting the Botanical Garden’s Alice’s Wonderland Exhibit while it’s still here (leaves Nov. 1). It was the perfect way to get outside and spend my day off (a Tuesday afternoon) and it wasn’t crowded at all.
Tickets: $21 (adults), $18 (children)
Open: Tuesday - Sunday
