Atlanta’s St. Regis Hotel is known for having upscale restaurants and fancy things to do that aren’t just limited to guests. One of those highly sought after places is The Garden Room, located on the terrace level of the hotel. One look at the photos of the restaurant and it’s easy to see why it’s so popular and nearly impossible to get a reservation.

Buckhead’s enchanted restaurant is usually booked a whole month out and can be a bit frustrating to try and find an opening, but that’s why I’m here. After successfully getting a reservation and dining in, I learned a few tricks so that you can get the chance to experience The Garden Room if you haven’t already.

The first thing you’ll need to do is create an account on OpenTable. Once you’ve done that, search The Garden Room and then click “find future availability” instead of trying to select a specific date. By clicking that option it saves you the headache of going through every day and trying to see if they’re available—instead, it specifies the next opening for you. I looked for a reservation on Sept. 6 and the next opening was exactly a month away on Oct. 6 so I booked it.

The key to getting a reservation is being flexible. If booking a month out doesn’t work for you and you’re a more of an on-the-fly type of person, there are two other options that will work well for you. Open the OpenTable app back up and find the blue button that says “set alert.” Then enter specific dates and times that you’re available (you can do more than one) and then click “set alert.” Make sure your push notifications are on and be on the lookout for an alert when a table becomes available last minute (usually a day or two notice).

The last option and something that I didn’t know until dining in is that the bar seating doesn’t require a reservation. I went on a Wednesday evening at 5:30 and the bar had tons of open seats up until 6:30/7ish. If you want to grab drinks or get an early dinner and don’t want to go through the hassle of getting a reservation, get there early and grab a seat at the bar. The bar is spacious and really no different than having a table, so don’t feel like you’re missing out.

The menu is a bit pricey, but let’s not act surprised. It’s at the St. Regis Hotel and you’re also paying for the ambiance and experience so be prepared to spend some money :) Now let’s get to the food and drinks. I recommend the “Send Noods” cocktail (very good) and the miso glazed pork robs with a side of parmesan truffle fries. The portions of most of the dishes are rather small (lobster roll) so make sure to be aware and ask the waiter about portion sizes before ordering.

All in all, I think The Garden Room was an absolutely beautiful restaurant and I enjoyed finally getting to experience it. I would recommend this place and will be going back!
