You Can See Virgil Abloh's "Figures of Speech" Exhibit at the High for Free.99
If you live in Atlanta, it doesn’t take long for word to spread when there’s a new exhibit at the High. You’ve probably seen people on social media take photos with cool backgrounds, and then you start to see it more and more until you eventually just go see it for yourself.
The High’s current special exhibit, “Figures of Speech,” displays the work of artist and designer Virgil Abloh. From working with Kanye West in his early fashion ventures to now leading Louis Vuitton’s menswear as the Creative Director. Familiar with the luxury clothing brand called Off-White? That’s his clothing brand too. Abloh wears many hats and throughout the exhibit visitors will get a deeper look inside his journey as an artist over the last twenty years.
Now you’re probably wondering how you can see all this goodness for free, right? It’s actually really simple. The High has something called “Second Sunday” where admission is free on the second Sunday of each month. And there’s no catch. All you have to do is show up and ask where the entrance to Virgil Abloh’s exhibition is and you’re all set.
I spent a little over two hours thoroughly enjoying “Figures of Speech,” reading all the signs accompanied by the artwork and taking photos. When I got there around 2 pm, I stood in line for maybe 15 minutes but when I left around 4 pm the line was really long. The earlier you get there the better, to avoid the long line.
There’s a lot of eye-opening artwork to see, so take your time and just take it all in because it’s a unique experience. Leave a comment if you want to see “Figures of Speech” before it leaves the High!
Upcoming Second Sundays
February 9
March 8 (last day of the exhibit)
Admission without Second Sunday: $14.50
